God’s Fall Feasts Revisited

Dear friend, did you know that The Heavenly Father has ordained Feast Days, let alone 7 of them? Do you know that there is a difference between secular holi-days and God’s Holy Days? I included a link to where God lists and explains the literal activities of His Feasts in Leviticus 23:

Leviticus 23 God’s Feast/Holy Days

Lev 23:2

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them,Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

What you should note from this reading in the Old Testament are several things:

  1. God Himself proclaimed they are HIS Feasts, aka NOT simply “Jewish” feasts, or from Moses or originating from any mortal
  2. God lists the 7 Holy Times and also ADDS that the weekly 7th Day Sabbath/Shabbat is all from HIM and to be acknowledged
  3. To go along with the above point, God shows us His associated number “7”; the theme of “7”: 7th day Sabbath, 7 Feasts, 7-year cycle ending in the Shemitah year, 7 cycles of 7 years=49 years with the 50th year following as the Jubilee year
  4. There are 4 Spring-time Feasts (Passover-Feast of Weeks) and 3 Fall-time Feasts (Trumpets-Dwelling)
  5. The activities within the Feasts in the Old Testament were literal, but also hold symbolic meanings
  6. The Feasts were not only for the Jews/Hebrews/literal Israel, but for also “strangers/foreigners” who also joined the Hebrews to honor The Lord

Therefore, if God created and ordained these Feasts and they were meant for significant meaning for ALL those who honored Him along with Israel, then what do they hold in meaning for us now, especially for the Christian walk?

Well, it may surprise you! For starters, God through these Feasts is highlighting His spiritually holy calendar…they denote a series of special events where He’s calling His people to pay unique attention to pivotal moments in their spiritual walk with Him. In fact, Passover is 14 days after the 1st day of the 1st month, aka, the actual New Year=1st day of the year in the Spring when new life grows! That’s just one example, and there’s more to share on that in another post…

But, since God established in Leviticus 23 how significant the Feasts are and their timing of special attention, what would the Fall time Feasts denote for us? Well, just as Spring time is the “beginning”, or renewal time of the year, Fall is the “winding down” time, or the nearing to the “end”, or “winter” of our lives! It can even be broadened into the “fall” or “nearing the end time” of the world’s “life”. Not only is our spiritual life now transitioning into a purification stage of finalizing our decisions to fully submit our lives under The Redeemer, Jesus Christ/Yeshuah, but also the world is being ushered into its final stage on both the physical and spiritual levels. As we see the corrupt world around us fulfill the last pages of Biblical prophecy, we know deep down that we’re nearing a spiritual “earthquake” that will “spit out” the lukewarm and split the “hot” vs. the “cold” for Jesus in this Laodicea time (Rev. 3:15-16).

Therefore, through God’s Fall Feasts, He’s alerting us to the change in our spiritual seasons, that first brisk cool wind swirling around before the harsh bite of Winter where most life dies and few survive to enjoy another Spring! The Feast of Trumpets/Rosh Hashanah/Yom Teruah then Yom Kippur/Atonement Feast, then lastly Sukkot/Dwelling-Tabernacle Feast are all Holy Days occurring in the Fall season with warnings (Trumpets) to revisit and return through repentance to God through Jesus (Atonement), to then enjoy “Emmanuel” or “God with us” dwelling within our tents/presence (Tabernacles)! If we do not heed His alarm for us to return to pure relationship and worship in Spirit (John 4:24), we will enter the “winter” of our lives and not survive past that point to enjoy His Son’s return, or Spring!

The 1st post-Christ Believers were Hebrews (along with others who converted on Pentecost) and all maintained God’s Feasts in acknowledgement, as Jesus did. Why have we millennia later forgotten their importance? If God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, why wouldn’t He still reveal His own Feasts as important to us today?? How can we fully understand Jesus’ work during his 1st coming and the rest of the New Testament, if we forget/neglect/ignore the Old Testament? God’s whole Word is Holy and True, and God laid out clues in the Feasts for symbolic spiritual meaning today! The Old and New is reconciled, just as you are reconciled and grafted into shared inheritance of God’s promises as being Abraham’s spiritual seeds (Galatians 3:29).

Therefore, as we are now underway into God’s Fall Feast with the Trumpet Feast having already begun Sept.14, revisit the deeper meaning of Leviticus 23 in what God is wanting you to be alert to (interestingly enough, this year’s Fall Equinox actually “falls” on Yom Kippur 9/23!! *pun intended, hee*). Use this time to slow down and reflect on areas of your spiritual walk with God and allow God to show you where repentance and renewal is needed before it’s too late. There is joy in reflection & rededication, especially when Your Father ordains it and wants to personally you draw closer to Him!

Here’s a few enlightening video links illustrating the beauty and significance of the Fall Feasts. May they bless you richly!
